Dr. Santino Fardol W. Dickens is a distinguished diplomat and author, celebrated for his advocacy for South Sudan's independence through self-determination. His academic journey began at the University of Bucharest in Romania, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics in 2000. Driven by a commitment to justice and prosperity, he pursued a Master’s Degree in International Business from the University of Worcester in the United Kingdom in 2009 and a PhD in Political Economy from SMC University in Switzerland in 2020. His educational achievements laid a strong foundation for his career as an advocate for South Sudan’s independence and as a champion for economic and political reforms.

Dr. Dickens has played a pivotal role in mobilizing South Sudanese communities worldwide, encouraging participation in the 2011 referendum that led to South Sudan’s independence. He has authored the influential book Southern Sudan and Its Fight for Freedom and co-authored the Diaspora Project for the Republic of South Sudan from 2011 and Beyond. Entering diplomatic service in 2007, he was instrumental in establishing the South Sudan Embassy in Germany in 2012, where he served as Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Head of Mission. He further represented South Sudan as Charge d’Affaires in the Benelux countries and the European Union. Recently, at the Chemical Weapons Convention (CSP-28), he emphasized South Sudan’s commitment to accede to the Convention, underscoring the importance of this step for regional and global security. As Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Dickens continues to advocate for South Sudan’s international interests and to elevate its role on the world stage.
